Coach James Palmer President, Arizona Long Drive (AZLD) Coach James Palmer brings more than 30 years of success as a player, coach, and instructor, with a career defined by competitive excellence, athlete development, and leadership at the highest levels of golf and sport performance. His teams and athletes have achieved elite results, including a Minnesota State Championship and appearances at Collegiate National Championships.
Palmer has been recognized with Coach of the Year honors and the prestigious National Character Award, reflecting both competitive success and integrity in leadership. As a coach, he has developed professional players, served as an IMG Academy Talent Scout and Coach, and held executive leadership roles including Executive Director at Combine Academy and Director of a Non-Profit Organization focused on athlete development.
In competitive long drive, Palmer is a Long Drive World Championship Qualifier, with a career-longest drive of 386 yards in competition. His coaching résumé includes producing 20 champions in a single season and 19 additional Top-5 tournament finishes. His programs have achieved national rankings of #1 in the NAIA and #2 in the NJCAA, cementing his reputation as a builder of elite, competitive cultures.
Today, as President of Arizona Long Drive, Coach Palmer applies decades of coaching, competition, and leadership experience to grow long drive into a premier, athlete-centric sport—focused on authentic competition, performance, and opportunity.
